Danny Gare
Danny Gare was selected 29th overall in the 1974 Amateur Draft and made an immediate impact, scoring 31 goals in his first NHL season and adding 13 points during the playoffs. In his sophomore year, Danny scored his first 50 goal season and during
the 1979-80 campaign tallied 56 goals and 33 assists to lead the league in scoring (along with Charlie Simmer and Blaine Stoughton). Danny Gare is considered one of the greatest Sabres ever. After participating in the 1981 Canada Cup Tournament, the Sabres’ captain was traded to the Detroit Red Wings
where he played until 1986 (he was the Wings last captain before Steve Yzerman!). Danny finished his NHL career in 1986-87 with Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier's Edmonton Oilers. In past summers Danny Gare hosted his hockey schools in Nelson, Nakusp and Invermere.
